How to add multiple IP Address & Multiple gateway in local area connection

What Is Multiple IP Address Assignment
Multiple IP address assignment in a computer means that a network interface card (NIC) of a computer is assigned with more than one IP addresses. Generally, administrators assign only one IP address to an NIC, and if multiple IP addresses are to be assigned, additional NICs are installed on the computer. Assigning multiple IP addresses to a computer allows the computer to communicate with multiple networks in an organization at the same time.
Benefit of Assigning Multiple IP Addresses
Administrators of Windows 8 computer can assign multiple IP addresses to a single NIC in order to eliminate the requirement of installing additional physical NICs. This is a positive step that administrators take in order to let the computer communicate with two different networks in the organization at the same time, and that too without investing funds in purchasing additional LAN cards.
Disadvantages of Assigning Multiple IP Addresses
Because multiple IP addresses are assigned to a single NIC to allow the computer communicate with multiple networks at the same time, any communication that takes place in either or all networks that also requires involvement of the target computer, the single NIC that has been assigned with multiple IP addresses receives heavy amount of network traffic. Because of this, the computer might face network congestion, which might reduce the network speed. This type of network congestion is technically called ‘Bottlenecks’.
How to Overcome Bottleneck Situations?
Although most administrators install multiple NICs to avoid bottleneck situations, in case additional NICs are not available, administrators can install a single NIC with high bandwidth support to reduce the chances of bottlenecks.
For example, LAN card with 100 Mbps support can be replaced with 1 Gbps (1GbE) NIC to remarkably reduce the network congestion issues (bottlenecks).

What is network gateway?

Gateway in networking is a node that serves as an access point to another network. Suppose ten computers or devices are connected. That means these ten devices form a network. Connect your laptop to any one of ten devices. The device or computer to which you have connected your laptop is called network gateway. Because this device works as gate to their network. You can enter into another network only through gate. Any computer or device can work as gate. It is simple to understand that the device or computer through which you are connecting or entering to other network is called network gateway.

What is default gateway?

From the above said example, among the ten devices, any device can be configured as default gateway. We can also use network gateway as default gateway. Or we can configure any other device as default gateway. Default gateway is nothing but a router, which connects your network to other network. If you want to connect this ten devices network to another network, you can connect only through this router.

Configure LAN with multiple IP & Multiple default gateways

To configure LAN follow step by step procedure which is shown below.Procedure is same for all the versions of windows.
Go to control panel -> Click on “Network and Internet”. You will see “Network and Internet” window.
Click on “Network and Sharing Center”.  You will see Network and Sharing Center window.
Click on “Change adapter settings”( in below fig.). You will see Network connections.

Right click on “Ethernet” and click on properties(2). Ethernet Properties window will be opened.

Click on Internet protocol version 4(TCP/IPv4). “Properties” icon will be highlighted in the same window.

Click on “properties” . “Properties” window will be opened.

Enter IP address, subnet mast and first networks default gateway IP address.
Click on Advanced . “Advanced TCP/IP settings” window will be opened. Here you can add multiple IP,Gateway,DNS and WINS Like it.

Click on “IP settings” tab at top menu.
Click on “Add” Under “IP Address”. “TCP/IP Address” window will be opened.
Enter second IP Address .
Click Add.

And Click on “IP settings” tab at top menu.
Click on “Add” Under “Default gateways” . “TCP/IP Gateway address” window will be opened.
Enter second default gateway ip address . You must select Metric by priority.
For primary gateway metric 1
For secondary gateway metric 2
Click Add.

You Can enter as many IP & gateways as you want by clicking Add button in the “Advanced TCP/IP settings window”. Now you can use all the networks through all network gateway s with single laptop.

Scenario What I Used

Primary IP & Gateway for Dell Sonicwall Firewall.

192.168.192.222 - for main IP
192.168.192.1 - Primary gateway with Metric 1

For linksys router
192.168.2.22
192.168.2.1 -Metric 2

For D-Link router
192.168.1.11
192.168.1.1 -Metric 3

For Asus router
192.168.0.10
192.168.0.1 -Metric 4

For Netgear router
192.168.5.55
192.168.5.1 -Metric 5

Note:- Metrics is compulsory.
